User Permissions
Last updated: February 26, 2026
Permissions control what each team member can view and edit in Bridgit Bench. Administrators assign permissions to ensure users have appropriate access based on their responsibilities.
How to Assign Permissions to Users
Assigning Base Permissions
Go to Account Settings > Users
Select a user or click Invite User
Choose a Permission Group
Click Save or Send Invitation
Creating Custom Permission Sets
Go to Account Settings > Permission Sets
Click Create Custom Permission Set
Name your permission set
Select specific permissions to be included in the permission set.
Click Save
Setting Up Group-Based Permissions
Prerequisites:
Account Groups must be enabled
Steps:
Go to Account Settings > Users
Select a user
Choose a Base Permission Group (this is the permission they will have for all groups by default - typically View Only)
Click Add access to specific groups
Select a group
Choose a permission set for that group
Repeat for additional groups
Click Save
Important Rules:
Group permissions add to base permissions (not replace them)
Manage Communications, View Financial, and View Private cannot be assigned as a Group permission.
Administrators cannot have group-based permissions
Common Workflows
Prevent duplicate projects:
Create custom permission set with Edit Projects and Delete Projects only (no Add Projects)
Assign to users who work with integration-sourced projects
Prevent accidental deletions:
Create custom permission set with Add Projects and Edit Projects only (no Delete Projects)
Assign to users who create and update but shouldn't delete
Regional access control:
Set base permissions to View Only
Add group-based permissions for user's region (e.g., Manage Projects for Toronto group)
User manages their region, views all others
Multi-region manager:
Set base permissions to View Only
Add group-based Manage Projects for Region A
Add group-based Manage Projects + Manage People for Region B
Manager has different access levels per region
Protect integration data:
Remove Add People and Edit People permissions
Grant only Manage Time Off and Manage Certifications
Users update schedules without affecting integration-sourced profiles
