People - Views and Filters

Last updated: February 26, 2026

People views and filters help you visualize and narrow down your workforce data in Bridgit. You can switch between List and Gantt views to see your team in different formats, then apply filters to focus on specific groups, availability, certifications, or any other criteria that matters to your planning.

Key capabilities:

  • Switch between List and Gantt views to match your workflow

  • Customize columns to show the data you need

  • Filter on system fields, custom fields, and certifications

  • Save frequently used filters for quick access

  • Apply Gantt-specific display options for visual planning

  • Send broadcast messages to filtered groups of people

  • Export filtered data to CSV or PDF

Eligibility/Prerequisites

Access to People views and filters depends on your permission level:

  • View People: See and filter people data in both List and Gantt views

  • Edit People: Manage fields on profiles

  • Manage Broadcast: Send broadcast messages to people (requires appropriate permission level)

Your ability to see certain data may be restricted based on profile type permissions. If you only have permission to view salaried or hourly profiles, you'll only see data for that profile type.

How to Use

People List View

The List view displays your workforce in a table format with customizable columns.

Customizing Columns

  1. Click View Columns in the top right beside the search bar

  2. Select the columns you want to display

  3. Drag column headers to reorder them

  4. Your column selections remain sticky as you navigate Bridgit

Applying Filters

You have three ways to filter people:

  1. Add Filter button: Click Add Filter on the left to access all available fields, including those not currently displayed as columns. This is the most comprehensive filtering option.

  2. Quick filters: Use the dropdown buttons for filters like Title and Availability for fast, common filters.

  3. Column-based filtering: Click the triangle icon on column headers to filter directly on that field.

Example: Finding people with expiring certifications

  1. Click Add Filter

  2. Select Certifications

  3. Choose Expiring Soon

  4. Review the filtered list

Saving Filters

If you use a filter regularly, save it for quick access:

  1. Apply your desired filters

  2. Click Save Filter on the left

  3. Name your filter descriptively

  4. Access saved filters anytime from the Add Filter dropdown

Exporting Data

Export your current view (including applied filters) to CSV or PDF using the export button in the top right.

Broadcasting Messages

With appropriate permissions, you can send messages to people:

  1. Apply filters to identify your target group

  2. Click Send Broadcast

  3. Compose your message

  4. Send to all people in your filtered view

People Gantt View

The Gantt view provides a visual timeline of workforce allocations and availability.

Understanding the Display

The People Gantt shows two types of bars for each person:

  1. Utilization bar (top of each row): Shows overall capacity with color coding:

  • Blue: Fully allocated (100%)

  • Green: Fully available (100%)

  • White: Partially available

  • Orange: Over-allocated (above 100%)

  • Grey/Black: Time off

  1. Project bars (below utilization): Show specific assignments on projects. Each project bar spans the duration of that assignment.

  • Solid bars: Awarded projects

  • Faded bars with dotted outline: Pursuit projects

  • Colors may vary based on your account's project color configuration

Gantt Display Options

Access Gantt Settings on the right side to customize what you see:

Display options:

  • Projects & utilization: Show both bar types (default)

  • Projects: Show only project assignment bars

  • Utilization: Show only capacity bars

Project color options:

  • Full color: Standard color intensity

  • Lite color: Reduced color intensity for subtler display

People display options:

  • Photo: Toggle profile photos on/off

Applying Filters in Gantt

All standard filters work in Gantt view:

  • Click Add Filter to filter on any field

  • Use quick filters for Title and Availability

  • Your filters persist when switching between List and Gantt views

Interacting with the Gantt

The Gantt is dynamic and interactive:

  • Scroll horizontally across the timeline

  • Click profile pictures to open full people profiles

  • Click utilization bars to see and edit allocation details

  • Click project bars to open project profiles directly

  • Adjust the timeline view using the zoom levels

  • Choose between a compact or standard row height

  • Access fullscreen mode to take up your whole screen

  • Resize the legend by dragging its edge to accommodate long names

Common Workflows

Finding available workers for next month: Filter Availability to "Available" and adjust the zoom level to focus on the upcoming month. Use Gantt view with utilization display to see capacity at a glance.

Identifying over-allocated staff: Apply filters to narrow your view, then use Gantt with utilization-only display. Look for orange bars indicating over-allocation. Click the bars to see conflicting assignments.

Sending certification renewal reminders: Filter on Certifications set to "Expiring Soon". Review the filtered list, then use broadcast messaging to notify affected employees.

Reviewing a specific team's workload: Apply Title filters to select the roles you want to review. Switch to Gantt view to see their project assignments across the timeline. Adjust to projects-only display to focus on assignments without utilization clutter.

Planning capacity for an upcoming project: Filter by the titles you need, set your timeline to the project dates, and use the utilization display to identify who has availability during that period.

Exporting team contact information: In the List view, filter to your desired group of people, customize columns to show contact details, then export to CSV for external use.

Common Questions

Q: Why do my column selections disappear when I log back in?

Column customizations are sticky to your user profile and should persist. If they're resetting, try clearing your browser cache or contact Bridgit Support if the issue continues.

Q: Can I share saved filters with my team?

Yes, saved filters can be shared with all users in your account. When creating a saved filter, simply select the option to share filter with all users in the account.

Q: What's the difference between quick filters and Add Filter?

Quick filters provide fast access to the most commonly used filters (Title, Availability). Add Filter gives you access to all available fields, including custom fields and certifications, even if those columns aren't currently displayed.

Q: Why don't I see the Gantt display options?

Click the gear icon in the top toolbar to open the Gantt Settings panel on the right side.

Q: How do I export my filtered data?

Apply your desired filters, then click the export button in the top right. You can export to CSV or PDF. The export will include only the data visible in your current filtered view and selected columns.

Q: What does "sticky" mean for my view customizations?

Sticky means your selections (columns, filters, Gantt settings) are saved to your user profile and will remain when you navigate to other parts of Bridgit and return to the People section.

Q: Can I filter on fields that aren't visible as columns?

Yes. Use the Add Filter button to access all available fields, regardless of whether they're displayed as columns in your current view.
