Update Assistant

Last updated: September 30, 2026

The Update Assistant is a feature within Ask Bridgit that lets users describe workforce changes in plain language and review proposed edits before anything is saved. Users type a request - the way they might text a colleague - and Ask Bridgit surfaces a set of suggested changes in a side panel for review and approval.

Key capabilities:

  • Describe multiple changes in a single message instead of navigating project by project

  • Review each proposed change as its own card, grouped by project, with a "Was → Now" comparison

  • Approve or skip individual changes - nothing is applied without confirmation

  • Ask Bridgit follows up if a request is unclear or a change isn't possible

  • Supported actions include adding roles, editing role dates and details, assigning people, and adding a role while assigning a person simultaneously

Eligibility

The Update Assistant is available to users with access to Ask Bridgit. No additional configuration is required.

How to Use

Submitting a request

  1. Open Ask Bridgit from the navigation bar (top right)

  2. Type your request in plain language - describe the changes you need as you would in a text message (e.g., "Move Sarah Chen off the Lakeview project starting next Monday and add her to Riverside instead")

  3. Ask Bridgit will process your request and display proposed changes in the side panel

  4. Review each change card - each card shows the project, the field being updated, and the "Was → Now" comparison

Reviewing and saving changes

  1. Read each proposed change card carefully before acting

  2. Click Save on any change you want to apply

  3. Skip any change you don't want - unapproved changes are not saved

  4. If Ask Bridgit needs clarification, it will ask a follow-up question before surfacing proposals

Common Workflows

Updating multiple roles at once: Describe all the changes you need in one message - for example, updating dates on three roles across two projects. Ask Bridgit will surface each change as a separate card so you can approve them individually, in any order.

Adding a role and assigning a person simultaneously: Include both the role details and the person's name in your request. Ask Bridgit will propose both the new role and the assignment as a single grouped set of changes for that project.

Handling a partial or unclear request: If Ask Bridgit can't interpret part of your request or a requested change isn't possible in Bridgit, it will tell you directly - either by asking a follow-up question or explaining why the action can't be completed.

Common Questions

Q: Do changes apply automatically when Ask Bridgit processes my request?

No. Every proposed change requires your explicit approval. Nothing is saved until you click Save on an individual change card.

Q: Who does the activity log attribute saved changes to?

Changes saved through the Update Assistant are attributed to the user who reviewed and approved them - not to Ask Bridgit.

Q: What if Ask Bridgit misunderstands my request?

Ask Bridgit will ask a clarifying follow-up question if it can't fully interpret your input. If a specific change isn't possible, Ask Bridgit will tell you rather than propose an inaccurate alternative.

Q: What actions are supported right now?

The current release supports adding roles to a project, editing role dates and details, assigning a person to a role, and adding a role and assigning a person to that role at the same time.

Best Practices

  • Include as much context as needed in your message — names, projects, dates, and the nature of the change — to reduce follow-up questions from Ask Bridgit

  • Review the "Was → Now" comparison on each card carefully before saving, especially when updating dates or details on active roles

  • Use the Update Assistant for batch updates to reduce the time spent navigating between projects and roles individually

  • Skip changes you're uncertain about rather than saving and correcting afterward - skipped changes don't apply and can be re-requested
