Common Workflows

Preventing compliance lapses: Filter for "Expiring Soon" certifications at the start of each week, then contact affected employees to schedule recertification before credentials expire.

Finding qualified workers for specialized projects: Filter by specific certifications (e.g., "OSHA30" or "LEED") to identify people with the required credentials for assignment.

Maintaining certification records: Upload certification PDFs to each person's profile as attachments, marking them as Private to keep sensitive documents secure while maintaining digital records.

Monthly compliance audits: Filter for Expired certifications to identify anyone who has fallen out of compliance and needs immediate attention.

Common Questions

Q: Can I track certifications that don't expire?

A: Yes. When creating a certification type, simply leave "Expiration Date Required" unchecked. This allows you to track credentials like degrees, trainings, or one-time qualifications that don't need renewal.

Q: What happens when a certification expires?

A: The certification turns red in the system, appears in "Expired" filters, and displays on the Snapshot dashboard's Expiring Certifications metric. However, Bridgit does not automatically prevent you from assigning someone with an expired certification to a project—it's a visual alert system to help you maintain compliance.

Q: Can employees upload their own certifications?

A: No. Certification management is typically restricted to your administrators.

Q: How do I customize the warning period for different certifications?

A: Each certification type has its own warning range setting. When creating or editing a certification in Settings > People > Certifications, you can set a specific number of days for the warning window (e.g., 30 days for some certifications, 90 days for others).

Q: Can I see all expiring certifications across my workforce at once?

A: Yes. The Snapshot dashboard displays an "Expiring Certifications" metric showing the total count of expired or soon-to-expire certifications. Click through to see the filtered People List with all affected employees.
