Dynamic Planning

Last updated: August 27, 2026

The Project Gantt in Bridgit includes dynamic planning tools for managing projects, phases, roles, and allocation data directly from the Gantt view. These tools allow teams to adjust workforce plans quickly and confidently as projects shift.

Key capabilities:

  • Make bulk changes to multiple phases and roles at once

  • Extend roles or phases beyond project boundaries, with project dates updating automatically

  • Update allocation percentages with a single click in View Allocation mode

  • Edit allocation percentage segments directly on role bars in the interactive Gantt

How to Use

Bulk Selection of Phases and Roles

  1. Navigate to the Projects tab from the main navigation and open the Project Gantt (top left corner - Gantt).

  2. Go to the project you wish to adjust and select multiple phases or roles by hovering over the role/phase and clicking the checkbox beside all that apply.

  3. Apply changes— date shifts, rescheduling, or other edits — across all selected items at once.

Extend a Role or Phase Beyond Project Dates

  1. From the Gantt, drag and drop a role or phase bar past the project's current start or end date.

  2. Release the bar at the new dates.

  3. A prompt will appear to confirm the project extension - click Confirm.

  4. The project start or end date will automatically update to match the new dates.

Update Allocation Percentages In-line

  1. From the Gantt settings (gear icon on the right hand side) adjust the role bar option to View Allocation.

  2. Click directly on the allocation percentage shown on a role bar.

  1. Enter the new percentage and the new allocation percentage will update immediately.

Common Workflows

Rescheduling multiple roles at once: When several roles need the same date adjustment, use bulk selection to select them all from the Gantt view, then apply the change in one action rather than updating each role individually.

Adjusting a role that runs past the project end: Drag the role bar to the new end date even if it falls beyond the current project boundary. The project end date will extend automatically, keeping the plan consistent without requiring a separate edit.

Updating an allocation percentage after a schedule shift: Switch to View Allocation and click the percentage on the affected role segment to type in the revised value directly. This replaces the previous workflow of opening the allocation modal and navigating through date pickers.

Common Questions

Q: Which roles and phases support bulk changes?

Bulk changes apply to all phases and roles visible on the Project Gantt. Select multiple items using the bulk selection controls, then apply the change from the actions menu that appears.

Q: What happens to other role segments when I edit one allocation percentage in-line?

Editing an assignment percentage updates that allocation only. Review the additional assignment percentages across the project to confirm the full allocation breakdown still adds up correctly after the change.

Q: If a role or phase is extended past the original project dates, does the project date update automatically in both directions?

Yes — extending past either the project start or end date triggers an automatic update to the corresponding project dates.

Q: Can I undo a bulk change or an in-line allocation edit?

There is no undo function in the Gantt. Review selections carefully before confirming changes. Additional edits can always be done as the project changes over time.

Best Practices

  • From the settings, switch the role bar option to View Allocation before making date changes. This way, allocation segments are visible, making it easier to identify gaps or overlaps immediately.

  • Use bulk selection when rescheduling related phases and roles together to keep the staffing plan consistent in a single action

  • After extending a role or phase past a project boundary, verify the updated project dates in the project profile to confirm the new timeline is correct
