Any Roles created in the Project Settings can be added to a project. Roles can also be set up with phase dates if the project has phases.

Add a Role Using Phase Dates via the Project List
- Select the requested project.
- Under the Roles tab, add the role(s) using the Add, Copy, or Use Template button.
- Under Quick Options, there is a dropdown that displays available phases. The default choice is the entire project. If you do not see Quick Options, this means your project does not have any phases set up yet.
- Click the three edit dots to customize allocations by phase dates.
- The Custom Allocation window displays the selected phases as well as the overlapping dates. Allocation breakdowns can also be set by custom range, monthly, or weekly. Click Save to confirm.
- Click Save Roles to add the role to the project.
Once the role is created, you can then proceed with placing a person in that role.
Add a Role Using Phase Dates via the Project Gantt
- Under the requested project, click Add a Role.
- Select the role from the list.

- The Copies of role box allows you to make duplicates of a role needed on a project.
- Click the three edit dots to customize allocations by phase dates.
- The Custom Allocation window displays the selected phases as well as the overlapping dates. Allocation breakdowns can also be set by custom range, monthly, or weekly. Click Save to confirm.
- Click Save to add the role to the project.
Once the role is created, you can then proceed with placing a person in that role.
Modify Phase Dates and Impacted Roles
When modifying existing phase dates, click Save and an edit window opens outlining all of the potential impacts:
You can decide how to handle changes to the project, phase, and role dates.
Phase Date Edited
- The impacted phase and tentative change will be presented at the top of the edit window.
Project Date Changes
- Use the checkbox to determine how the project duration will be impacted.
Impacted Phases
- The other phases on the project can be shifted to align with the updated phase or left as is. Sub-phases are not displayed but can be impacted by the change to phases.
Impacted Roles
- Confirm which roles are impacted by the change. Roles can be left with the current dates or extended/shifted accordingly to align with the updates.
