Create a Custom Assignment

Custom role assignment is used to further break down a person’s availability. Assignments can be updated by phases, custom date range, or on a weekly or monthly basis.

Project List

1. Select the required project.
2. In the Operations tab, select Add role and choose a role.
3. Select the    icon under the Assignment % column to open the Customize Assignment modal. 
4. Select the Assignment breakdown - custom range, monthly, or weekly.
   • Allocation breakdown by phases is an option if the project has phases. Overlapping phases will populate a separate row.
5. Modify the allocation values accordingly.
6. Select Save to confirm.

Creating a custom assignment by monthly intervals, instead of phases, follows the same steps. Except, select Monthly under the Assignment breakdown.

Project Gantt

1. With View Roles enabled in the Gantt settings, select the   icon to add a new role or select the    icon beside the role name.
2. Select the icon under Assignment %.
3. In the Customize Assignment modal, select the Assignment breakdown - custom range, monthly, or weekly.
   • Assignment breakdown by Phases will be an option if the project has phases.
4. Modify the assignment values accordingly.
5. Select Save to confirm.

People Profile

1. In the Assignments tab, select the  icon under the % column.
2. Select the    icon to customize.
3. In the Customize Assignment modal, select the Assignment breakdown - custom range, monthly, or weekly.
4. Modify the assignment values accordingly.
5. Select Save to confirm.

Adding a Role Using Phase Dates

Roles created in the Project Settings can be added to a project. If the project has phases, roles can be added to a project using phases.

0% Assignment

Some roles aren't required for a continuous period of time on a project. When a role is set to 0% assignment, this means that the role is not required on the project at that time. 

• For example, a Project Manager may be on a project for the Pre-construction and Construction phases but there is a two-month gap between the phases due to a delay in permits.

0% assignment is set via Custom Range in the Customize Assignment window.

1. Select the required project.
2. In the Operations tab, select the role.
3. Select the  icon under the % column, then the    icon to customize. 
4. Select Custom Range under Assignment breakdown and create a custom range for the dates needed.
5. Once the custom range has been created, change the % assignment under the Custom column on the far right to 0.
6. Select Save to confirm.

Using this method will help ensure accuracy with role counts.
